The 2018 MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch) introduced a major redesign, featuring a high-resolution Retina display, Touch ID, and USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports. It features a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB/16GB RAM, and a lightweight, tapered aluminum body (2.75 lbs). It is ideal for basic tasks like browsing and document editing, though it may struggle with demanding applications in 2025.

Design and Performance:
The 2018 model features 50% narrower bezels than its predecessor and is 17% smaller in volume. It weighs 1.25 kg (2.75lbs) and has a tapered "wedge" shape. While it features a Retina display, it uses a lower-power processor and butterfly keyboard design compared to modern Apple Silicon models. The battery lasts for up to 12 hours of web browsing. 

Note: The 2018 model is slated to lose official macOS support around September 2026.
